The short answer is: NO!
The longer answer is no, because part of what drives the success of your Facebook page is natural fans who interact with your business's page, liking and sharing, commenting and cross-posting what you put out there.
You could offer a promotion and get people to like your page, but if they have no real attraction to your page, then you've just wasted your money at best.
I say at best because more than likely they have no real reason to like your page or stay there, and they'll quickly tire of seeing your postings. Then they'll unlike you. And Facebook knows who gets un-liked, and they use this knowledge to determine Edgerank.
Edgerank is an algorithm developed by Facebook to govern what is displayed and how high on the News Feed of particular users. Much like Google uses an algorithm to sort out the best results from the worst, Facebook wants to keep their users as engaged as possible for as long as possible, and they do this through optimizing what posts you see from who, and when.
The practical upshot: if a bunch of people opt to "hide" your posts from their feed, or like and then unlike you, it will bump your edge rank down, making it harder and harder to get your message out to the people who do want to see.
Your goal is gaining Facebook fans, people who like what you do and want what you have. It has to develop organically, or it will certainly fail.
Let me tell you two very short stories about two companies that don't sound like they ought to have huge Facebook followings but do.
Company one makes air vents for recreational vehicles. Company two offers insurance for certain kinds of vehicles.
Described that way, can you imagine the challenge they found when looking for ways to grow their fan-base on Facebook. Neither one really get's your blood pumping, do they? But would you believe that both of them have incredibly engaged and fiercely loyal fan bases?
MaxxAir Vents has over 49,000 fans, and Heacock Insurance has over 53,000. Go look at the engagement on their page. They didn't just "buy" 50k fans, and had they, their pages would look like ghost towns.
No, they have an army of raving fans because they did what smart companies are doing every day: they turned to experts in social media management.
They turned to us.
