IKEA's Feng Shui Makes Their Customers Buy!

Ikea Flags / Kodak E100G xproIf you own a local business with a show-room floor, then you understand the adage about the three most important parts of getting new customers: Location, Location, and Location!  Often times we view this as merely a comical way to express the fact that you need to be seen by foot traffic, and the higher the traffic, the more customers you'll snag.

That's only partially true.

For part of location involves the location of the stuff inside your store, and the effect that such a layout has on your customers.  The right kind of optimization can drastically increase foot traffic, customer flow, and revenue!

For some businesses (and cities), this happens organically and naturally.  For others, it seems as if they've actively taken steps to prevent it from happening.

And then there's Ikea's Feng Shui

Feng Shui is a term generally related (in modern parlance) to the field of interior design of personal spaces and offices.  Auspiciously designed to promote the "flow of energy," some have derided it as mysticism and hooey, and others have devoted their lives to the study and practice of it.

One thing is for sure, when you have the right lay out, the flow of energy-in-the-form-of-foot-traffic-and-open-wallets can noticeably improve.
