"Black Friday" is called that because it's the day (or the beginning of the weekend) in which many businesses officially begin turning a profit for the year! That means from January through mid-November, many local businesses are just eeking by.
YOU have the power to change that, by patronizing local businesses instead of chain-stores like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc. That's not to say you can never shop at these places (it's almost impossible in some places).
Seriously, resolve to spend even $50 at 3 local businesses as part of your gifting, and it will make a HUGE impact on your local economy, which will in turn have a huge impact on you and your friends and family.
